Project Brief

Introduction: Project Title: Prevention and Control Project Lead NGO: Sammar Foundation Partner NGO: Target Group: Working Youth Location: Lahore		Objectives: The main objective of the project was to provide awareness about issues related to HIV&AIDS and STIs, and enabling targeted population to generate behavioral change among themselves towards their risky practices Targeted area chosen for the community of male working youth is Township Lahore. This locality is well known for numerous small to medium scale industrial established and informal business settings. The goal of the project was to provide awareness about issues related to HIV & AIDS/STIs, and enabling targeted population to generate behavioral change among themselves towards their risky practices. In addition, enabling targeted population suffering with such infections to better accept and cope with their situation and access appropriate services.

Lesson Learnt:
• Peer educators should be involved as they can
move easily with the specific group
• Condoms should be freely available for the targeted population as often they hesitate in asking for condoms • Advocacy seminars should be held on regular basis as they are the great boosters for the enhancement of knowledge regarding HIV & AIDS.
		Achievements: • IEC material boosted the awareness level • Advocacy seminars motivated the targeted group to talk openly about sex, sexuality, and HIV & AIDS. • Promotive ,preventive services regarding STIs improved • Condom Promotion
