Final Dissemination
(TAMEER Project)

 

 


Background

Pakistan AIDS Control Federation (PNAC) implemented TAMEER (meaning build) Project with technical assistance of Interact Worldwide from Jan 2004 till Dec 2007. This project was funded by European Commission (EC) and Department for International Development (DFID).

Tameer has contributed significantly in the prevention and control of HIV & AIDS in Pakistan. PNAC is now in the process of concluding Tameer project which mainly focused on institutional development of NGOs, national capacity building and rights-based small grants projects implemented with key vulnerable communities at grassroots level.

In that regard PNAC arranged a large scale final dissemination seminar in which different learning's and achievements of Tameer were shared with major stakeholders and the civil society at large. The final evaluation of Tameer has been carried out externally and the evaluation team shared their findings, results and the impact of Tameer with all major stakeholders. Various stalls were set up displaying achievements and lessons learnt of the projects under small grants along with problems and the achievements of Tameer. The event also featured first hands accounts of small grant projects beneficiaries i.e. (People Living with HIV, IDUs, MSM, FSWs, Coal Miners and Jail Inmates).

Proceedings of the Seminar

The event commenced with recitation from the Holy Quran by Hafiz Muhammad Asif. Dr. Maha Talat, programme Officer PNAC and Mr. Andy from IWW facilitated the event.

The member of the evaluation team, Ms. Gill Long then presented the key components of the Tameer programme and then presented the purpose of the project and evaluation methodology.

Then the other member of evaluation team Ms. Gillian presented the key objective as; gthe strengthened capacity of the Pakistan National AIDS Consortium (PNAC) as legitimate, (appropriately rooted), well governed, effective structures which support and facilitate CSO co-ordination, national capacity building, lesson learning, knowledge exchange, quality assurance, joint ventures, coalition building and participatory advocacy.h

Then she told about the key outputs, criteria for evaluation and structures and procedures of the consortia and then in the end she presented lessons learned during the evaluation process.
